What to expect during lessons?
Typically, driving lessons will start with basic skills such as getting familiar with the vehicle controls, understanding traffic rules, and practicing basic maneuvers like starting, stopping, turning, and parking. As you progress, you'll learn more advanced techniques such as highway driving, parallel parking, and defensive driving strategies.

What are the lesson rates?
As of March 25th, 2023, single lessons begin at $70, while prepaid packages start at $275. Payment is required in advance, and we accept both bank transfers and cash payments on the day."
What are the payment options available?
Cash: Payment is required on the day at the beginning of your lesson. Lessons will commence only after payment is received. Receipts can be provided on the same day.
Online banking: Ensure payment is transferred to our account preferably the day before your lesson.

What is our Cancellation Policy?
Please urgently message us at 027 368 5010 if you anticipate running late. Note that lesson durations are tightly scheduled, and tardiness may result in a shortened lesson. Should you exceed a ten (10) minute delay without prior communication, the lesson will be considered cancelled, and you'll forfeit the fee. You'll need to re-book and pay for a new lesson in such cases.
To avoid charges for missed lessons, a minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations. Please note that lessons cannot be exchanged, transferred, or refunded for cash, either in full or in part, without prior notice and agreement.
If you wish to reschedule a lesson, kindly provide 24 hours' notice, subject to availability."
What is our policy for booking or cancelling Pre-Paid Package Lessons?
When booking a Pre-Paid Package Lesson, full payment is required the day before your first driving lesson. Select the number of lessons you wish to book. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, simply give us a call, and we'll make the necessary adjustments for you.
Please note that Pre-Paid lessons are non-refundable due to the discounted rate offered. If any lessons remain unused before your actual driving test, there will be no refund. However, you're welcome to gift the remaining lessons to someone else; please inform us accordingly."
Can I use my own vehicle?
Yes, you can use your own manual or automatic car for lessons, which can often be advantageous as you'll be familiar with the vehicle you'll be driving during tests. However, your vehicle must be registered and warranted. Please ensure this is taken care of, as failure to comply will result in the cancellation of the lesson and forfeiture of the fee. You'll need to re-book and pay for another lesson in such cases.
What do I need to bring?
You must bring your driving licence to your lesson, as we are legally unable to conduct any lessons without it. Ensuring you have your licence at all times while driving can help you avoid the cost of last-minute lesson cancellations. Additionally, wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for driving (avoid jandals or open-toe sandals)."
Can I give lessons as a gift?
Absolutely! Give the gift of safe and enjoyable journeys on the road by gifting practical driving lessons. Contact us to arrange payment, and we'll schedule the lessons to fit the recipient's schedule.
PLEASE NOTE: Gifted lessons or vouchers from the previous owner of MDT Driver Training will not be honored. As of January 31st, 2024, the new Owner of MDT Driver Training was unaware of these gifted lessons or vouchers and is uncertain of their distribution. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding."
Can I use your car for the test?
Absolutely! MDT provides both automatic and manual cars available for hire on test day at $150 in a two hour session. We also offer a Pre-Assessment test lesson before your actual driving test. To use our vehicle on "Test day," you must have had at least one lesson two weeks prior to booking your Driving test and be a competent driver. Coordination with our schedule is necessary to ensure availability for your test day and time.
Do you offer refresher courses?
Yes, we do. We're dedicated to supporting anyone in need of refreshing their road rules knowledge.
As a parent, can I join the driving lesson?
Yes, you can accompany the driving lesson. However, we have a policy in place that prohibits input from parents/guardians during the lesson. External input can be distracting or even potentially unsafe."
Discover our Defensive Driving Course -We are currently not running any class's we are in an on-going course to became a provider for defensive driving course. We will let you know when we do become a provider for defensive driving.
Street Talk's defensive driving courses are specifically crafted by NZ Transport Agency to cater to the needs of young drivers across New Zealand. Our courses focus on teaching essential defensive driving skills that aid both Learner and Restricted drivers in passing the latest Driving Tests.
This comprehensive course is open to all licence holders and consists of 4 interactive classroom sessions lasting 2 hours each, along with an optional on-road practical session of up to an hour.
Spanning a 2-week period with a minimum of 2 sessions per week, participants emerge as all-around safer drivers, equipped with the skills to navigate challenging driving scenarios confidently.
For Learner licence holders: Once you've obtained your learner licence and feel confident to complete a 1-hour drive, you're eligible to enroll in our Defensive Driving Course. Upon completion, you can reduce your time on the restricted licence by 6 months.
For Restricted licence holders: Completing our Defensive Driving Course slashes the time required on your restricted licence by 6 months. If you're over 25, this time is further reduced to just 3 months.
For Full licence holders: Our Defensive Driving Course isn't limited to novice drivers. Whether you're a police recruit, court referral, participant in a Police Diversion programme, or simply seeking to refresh your driving skills, our course is tailored for you.
Course fee: $250 per person. Payment options include bank transfer or cash. Secure your spot by making payment in advance. Minimum enrollment of 6-7 participants required."
